Barely anything to add
Dr. Nicole LePera has written a beautiful book about how to nurture self-acceptance. It’s about replacing negative internal voices, thoughts largely shaped by our childhood critics, with updated, reframed thoughts that help us grow, not stay stuck in old stories. I love her ideas on how to avoid being ensnared and defined by incorrect childhood ideas. Speaking in layman’s terms, she gives instructions on how to return to our authentic “pre-traumatized” selves. I appreciate her realistic approach about acceptance, including that we may not like what happened to us, only learn to accept it. LePera also explains that healing isn’t instant. It takes time. For example, rushing things like premature forgiveness often causes complex struggles later. She provides us with guidance and practices that help us face what happened to us and see it and work through it with adult eyes. She does not suggest creating a completely new us, but a returning to who we were meant to be before our growth got interrupted. Her original concepts include a developmental model exploring five spheres of ourselves. These spheres highlight areas that need repair from our childhood injuries. Her insights are eye-opening. When practiced, they can restore a sense of adult agency. Exercises included in this book are instructive and reinforce life-changing ideas that open the reader to introspection and revelation. She sites work of many experts in the field of trauma, along with brilliant insights of her own. I will return to this book often as life circumstances inevitably become challenging. I appreciate her practical advice for those who suffer. I highly recommend this book to anyone feeling stuck. It offers a way out.
Super Important Book
This is the book of the year for me! It helps heal childhood trauma without creating anger toward your parents. It provides incredibly important insights into what actually happened and shows you how to become the best parent to yourself, without expecting or demanding anything from your parents. I read it several times and made lots of notes.
Very well written. Insightful
Finally a book that teaches you the concept of inner child attachment. Really connecting and engaging. I’m very much enjoying reading it
Feels like an extension of her TikTok, but deeper and more actionable
I’ve followed Dr. Nicole LePera on TikTok for years, so I was really excited to read Reparenting the Inner Child and it honestly lived up to what I was hoping for.
What I loved:
•Easy to understand, but still impactful – She explains things like triggers, patterns, and emotional responses in a way that just makes sense without feeling overly clinical.
•Very actionable – This isn’t just a “read and reflect” book. There are actual tools and exercises that help you start changing behaviors, not just recognizing them.
•Super validating – It really connects the dots between childhood experiences and current habits in a way that feels empowering instead of heavy.
•Builds self-awareness – I found myself noticing my own patterns more as I read, which is kind of the whole point of doing this work.
What could be better:
•Some overlap if you follow her closely If you’ve been watching her content for a long time, a few concepts may feel familiar
•Takes time to work through – This isn’t a quick read if you actually do the exercises (which you should)
Best for:
•Anyone already following her and wanting something more structured
•People working through emotional triggers, people-pleasing, or relationship patterns
•Readers who want practical tools, not just motivation
Overall:
This felt like a more in-depth, organized version of what she shares online, with real steps you can take. If you’re into personal growth and actually want to do the work, this is a really solid read.
This book changed how I see myself
I didn't expect a book to stop me in my tracks. But this one did.
Reparenting the Inner Child by Dr. Nicole LePera is the most honest, practical, and compassionate book I've read on healing. It doesn't talk at you. It talks with you. And that makes all the difference.
I've read a lot of self-help books. Most of them tell you what's wrong with you. This one helps you understand why you are the way you are — and then actually shows you what to do about it. No blame. No shame. Just real tools you can use every single day.
Dr. Nicole has a way of explaining deep ideas in simple language. You don't need a psychology degree to understand this book. You just need to be someone who's ready to do the work. And if you're not quite ready yet, reading this might just get you there.
What hit me hardest was the section on the inner child. I realized I had been living on autopilot for years — reacting from old wounds I didn't even know I was carrying. This book helped me see those patterns clearly for the first time. And seeing them was the first step to changing them.
The reparenting practices are gentle but powerful. They meet you exactly where you are. Whether you're just starting your healing journey or you've been doing the work for a while, there is something in here for you.
This isn't a book you read once and put on a shelf. It's one you come back to. I've already dog-eared half the pages.
If you've ever felt like you're stuck in the same cycles — same reactions, same relationships, same old patterns — this book is for you. It won't fix everything overnight. But it will give you the understanding and the tools to finally start shifting things.
Buy it. Read it slowly. Take notes. Your nervous system will thank you.
Outstanding Quality
I've been shopping with this brand for over a year now and the quality never disappoints. Every purchase has exceeded my expectations and their customer service is exceptional.
Re-parenting the Inner Child
Inner child that has a built in workbook at the end of chapters. Presented well. This author is knowledgeable & compassionate. I bought another book by her I haven’t started yet. (See picture.) I am 71 & did not have any awareness of how my behaviors of coping/surviving in childhood came with me into adulthood. And I don’t need these in my adulthood. I’m having to re-learn so much. Re-parent my inner child. It’s enlightening & so difficult at times. We are all worthy to heal.
I finally understand why I react the way I do
I've read plenty of self-help books over the years, but this one connected the dots in a way nothing else has. It helped me recognize how childhood experiences were still influencing my relationships, confidence, and daily habits. The exercises are practical, compassionate, and surprisingly powerful. I find myself coming back to this book whenever I need a reminder to be kinder to myself.
A book everyone should read at least once
This isn't just another psychology book filled with theories. Dr. LePera explains complex ideas in a way that's easy to understand and immediately applicable. I started noticing unhealthy patterns I'd never questioned before, and the self-reparenting exercises have genuinely changed how I respond to stress and conflict.
One of the best books on emotional healing
I've recommended this book to friends and family because it's helped me understand myself in ways I never expected. It doesn't promise quick fixes, but it provides the tools to create real, lasting change. If you're ready to break old patterns and become more emotionally resilient, this is absolutely worth reading.
