Barely anything to add
The comments on the book prolly told basically enough. I can agree with the people who are worried about the updating in a more fluent and modern language for easier reading, although the authors have shed light on a lot of the concerning passages in footnotes etc.
A real treasure of knowledge nevertheless, that i would attest containing livesaving properties (in a spiritual sense), especially if seen as the missing part from the bible, helping to seperate the wheat from the chaff in there. It has helped me to grow a lot spiritually.
Definitively for people with open minds, seeking on works that help them connect worldy and spiritual matters in a relatable way or simply finding their truth in a world of confusion.
For the die-hard Bible folks: don't bother yourselves with texts that already have been declared a heresy a long time ago.
The books have been burned as best as they could at the time, unfortunately some texts survived. They contain statements that may cause controversial thoughts for world views, stemming from the over and over revised and carefully edited collection of infallible words - which has of course has authority alone. Maybe the devil or some other evil has saved some for last, after all those bloodsheds concerning their content, who knows.
It would be simply a waste of time, as it undermines the greatness of the bloodoffer and war-demanding entity in the old testament, next to other attributes not to question.
A must have for anyone studying the Bible
Interesting book! I wouldn't mind if the print were larger, but then I'm getting older. John 21:25 - "But there are also many other things that Jesus(Yeshua) did; and if they were all to be recorded, I don't think the whole world could contain the books that would have to be written!" I believe these are some of those books. It is a collection of Papyrus bound books, not scrolls, found near the city of Nag Hammadi in Upper Egypt, in a clay jar, sent to translators as a collective around the world, English speaking, French, German. These people obviously dedicated much of their lives to translating and piecing together evidence of other works as well..."Gospel of Thomas", "Gospel of Philip", "Wisdom of Jesus Christ", "Dialogue of the Savior". This is a must have for anyone studying the Bible.
Seeking the truth? This book will help set you free.
Years of indoctrinated religious dogma kept me locked up in my own prison.
This book helped me find my way to break out of it.
Jailbreak? Yeah!!
A fascinating window into early Christianity
What impressed me most wasn't just the translations—it was the historical context provided before each text. You begin to see how diverse early Christian beliefs really were and why these writings remain so influential today. The editors do an excellent job balancing scholarly accuracy with readability, making this suitable for both beginners and experienced readers.
More than ancient manuscripts—it's a journey through forgotten history
This isn't the kind of book you rush through. Every text offers a different perspective on spirituality, creation, knowledge, and humanity's search for truth. I especially appreciated having classics like the Gospel of Thomas and Gospel of Philip alongside many lesser-known writings. It's one of the most valuable books I've added to my personal library.
Outstanding Quality
I've been shopping with this brand for over a year now and the quality never disappoints. Every purchase has exceeded my expectations and their customer service is exceptional.
The most complete collection of Gnostic writings I've found
I've read individual translations of the Gospel of Thomas before, but having the entire Nag Hammadi library in one volume completely changed my understanding of Gnosticism. The introductions and notes make these ancient texts much easier to follow without feeling overly academic. Whether you're studying early Christianity or simply curious about the lost books that didn't make it into the Bible, this is an incredible resource that you'll find yourself returning to time and time again.
An essential reference for religious and philosophy enthusiasts
The quality of the scholarship in this edition is outstanding. The translations are clear, the introductions are insightful, and the organization of the book makes it easy to explore different Gnostic traditions. Whether you're reading it cover to cover or using it as a reference, it's one of the most comprehensive collections available.
One of the most important discoveries in religious history, beautifully presented
The Nag Hammadi discovery transformed how scholars understand early Christianity, and this book does an incredible job presenting those texts in an accessible way. Instead of only reading about Gnosticism, you're able to read the original writings for yourself and draw your own conclusions. It's informative, thought-provoking, and surprisingly enjoyable to read.
A book I'll continue coming back to for years
Every time I open this collection, I notice something I missed before. The themes of knowledge, enlightenment, and the search for spiritual truth remain just as thought-provoking today as they were nearly two thousand years ago. This isn't simply a book you finish—it's one you'll revisit whenever you want to explore the foundations of ancient philosophy and religious thought.

If You Know, You Know
Coming to this after reading Not In His Image and tiptoeing through Gnostic fragments for months, I finally ordered the full Nag Hammadi collection — and wow.
It’s not about decoding line by line. It’s about remembering something deep and strange and familiar. Some of it reads like riddles, some like lightning in the soul, some like ancient knowing. All of it confirms: the pattern is old, and you’re not crazy for seeing it. The playbook is ancient and being played out in real time.
Gno. Unindoctrinate. Correction. Liberation.
If you’ve ever had a dream that felt older than your lifetime…
If you’ve side-eyed the official story and felt something stir in your chest…
If Sophia whispered to you once and you didn’t even know her name yet…
This is for you. The black boxes can screech all they want. We already left.
